Reward offered for fatal stabbing at Laveen bus stop

PHOENIX (AZ Family) – Police continue to search for a suspect after a man was stabbed to death at a bus stop in Laveen earlier this week. A reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest as part of the investigation.

Shortly after 9 pm on Tuesday, April 23, officers responded to a bus stop on the northwest corner of 39th Avenue and Baseline Road, across from Cesar Chavez High School. They arrived to find a man suffering from serious injuries, including at least one stab wound.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has since been identified as Jonathan Billie Mitchell, 33.

Phoenix police have not identified any suspects.

A tipster with information leading to an arrest could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
