QUINCY-Stan Musial. Alberto Pujols. Willie McGee. Ozzie Smith. Bob Gibson.

Those were the most common names Muddy River Sports readers submitted as the players who would top their list of their 10 favorite St. Louis Cardinals. Enos Slaughter got a mention and Whitey Herzog also had a couple of mentions.

The most interesting (and encouraging) aspect of the reader-submitted lists was that no one attempted to simply rank the top 10 Cardinals after last week’s episode of “The List,” in which Muddy River sports editor, Matt Schuckmand and sports writer Shane Hulsey offered their personal top 10 lists.

Many of the rosters submitted had players like David Eckstein, Tom Herr, David Freese and Terry Pendleton. One reader even had Stubby Clapp listed for him.

So who’s on your list this week?

Schuckman and Quincy High School girls soccer coach Travis Dinkheller, who is a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and has passed on his passion for Cubbie blue to his son, Cooper, challenged themselves to name their 10 Favorite puppies.

WGN’s influence as the Cubs’ broadcast home in the 1980s showed, as did local connections to Quincy, which at one time was the Cubs’ minor league affiliate.

Hear who Schuckman and Dinkheller have on their rosters and then talk to your 10 favorite Chicago Cubs players.
