Tornado warning causes delays at Dallas Love Field and DFW Airport

A tornado watch and severe thunderstorm warning in North Texas suspended travel at Dallas Love Field and DFW International Airport on Friday.

According to FlightAware, 30% of flights out of DFW Airport were delayed and 2% had been canceled as of 1:30 p.m. At Love Field, 23% of departing flights were delayed and 5% were cancelled. The tornado watch will be in effect until 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, and more severe storms are expected to arrive this weekend.

Dallas-Fort Worth is expected to receive approximately three inches of rain between Friday and Monday. About 10% of the region will receive four to six inches of rainfall.

The greatest potential for severe weather will occur Saturday night into Sunday morning.
